Evans has more childcare options than anywhere else in Columbia County. That is genuinely good news — and it makes the choice harder, not easier.
If you live in 30809 you are not short of centers. You are short of a way to tell them apart. Every one of them will tell you they have low ratios, a curriculum and caring teachers. Most of them mean it. None of that helps you choose.
So here is the one number that actually separates programs, and how to check it anywhere.
Georgia sets a legal maximum for how many children may share a room. Almost no program publishes where it sits against that ceiling. We do:
| Room | Our group size | Georgia’s legal maximum |
|---|---|---|
| Infants | 6 | 12 |
| Younger toddlers | 8 | 16 |
| Older toddlers | 7 | 20 |
| Preschool | 12 | 30 |
Ask every program you tour in Evans the same two questions: how many children are in this room, and how many adults are in it at 7:30am, at nap, and at 5:30pm. The second question is the one that separates the brochure from the building. Here are eighteen more.
Since July 2026 the state publishes inspection reports, licensing history and complaint outcomes for every licensed program in Georgia. Search 30809 at families.decal.ga.gov. Read the files on your shortlist. A clean record usually means a short history rather than a perfect program, so the skill is in reading what you find.
We are opening in Martinez, not Evans, so for most 30809 families we are a short drive rather than the closest option. We would rather be straight about that than pretend otherwise.
What you get for the drive is a room with six babies in it instead of twelve, a home-cooked lunch instead of a packed one, Spanish woven through the day rather than sold as a Tuesday enrichment class, and one weekly rate — $325 ($350 for infants), all-inclusive — with no supply fee, activity fee or party fee attached to it. Every charge is published.
If a program closer to you fits your family better, take it. We would rather help you see that clearly than enroll a family who resents the commute by March.
Evans is a short drive, and several of our families already make it. Come see the program first — tour Perla’s current room, ask the hard questions, and decide afterward whether a Martinez spot is worth the drive.
